A Ford GT was sold at Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale, Arizona auction over the weekend for an incredible sum of $2.5M USD.

The race-bred supercar was donated to the Evernham Family-Racing by Arizona businessman Ron Pratte. All proceeds from the $2.5M sale will benefit the Autism Society of North Carolina’s IGNITE program, which offers activities, skills training and educational workshops for young adults with high-functioning autism or Asperger’s Syndrome.

The Ford GT sold is painted in the desirable Liquid Blue debut color, which is joined by white racing stripes and red brake calipers. The highly sought-after carbon fiber wheels have been optioned as well. Additionally, this car is one of the rare 2017 model year Ford GTs, and is a very early production run vehicle with the serial number #0023. Ford also threw in the Ford Performance Racing School GT Experience with the sale of the car, even though it isn’t technically an all-new vehicle.

The Ford GT retails for $453,750, but the price here was likely inflated due to the charity relation. It’s also rather hard to get your hands on a Ford GT at the moment, so the buyer of this car may have also paid a premium to have their car now, rather than waiting for it to be built by Multimatic at its Ontario-based facility.
