Following an internal investigation, Ford Motor Company’s executive vice president, Raj Nair, is leaving the company.

The decision, said Ford in a statement, came as a result of an investigation launched following reports of inappropriate behavior.

“We made this decision after a thorough review and careful consideration,” said Jim Hackett, Ford President and CEO. “Ford is deeply committed to providing and nurturing a safe and respectful culture and we expect our leaders to fully uphold these values.”

Neither Ford nor Nair have so far explained what the behavior in question was, but Ford did write that his behavior was found to be inconsistent with its code of conduct.

“I sincerely regret that there have been instances where I have not exhibited leadership behaviors consistent with the principles that the Company and I have always espoused,” said Nair, in the same Ford statement quoted above. “I continue to have the utmost faith in the people of Ford Motor Company and wish them continued success in the future.”

On top of being Ford’s executive vice president, he was also the president of its North American division. As such, he oversaw the release of the GT and the 50th-anniversary Mustang, among others.

With Ford since 1987, Nair worked his way up through the company from his first role as a body and assembly operations launch engineer.

No replacement has been announced yet, but Ford has promised to make an announcement in the near future.
