Ford Motor Company veteran and Lincoln head Kumar Galhotra will take over responsibilities as head of Ford’s North American division.
The move follows Raj Nair’s ouster following an internal investigation into “inappropriate behavior.” The nature of his behavior is still unknown.
Ford is “very fortunate to have an experienced and committed executive team in place driving every day to significantly strengthen our business while building toward our vision of becoming the world’s most trusted mobility company, designing smart vehicles for a smart world,” said CEO Jim Hackett, in a statement.
A rising star within the business, Galhotra previously held roles as the Group’s vice president, is credited with bringing Lincoln back to respectability, and was recently promoted to chief marketing officer at Lincoln and Ford.
In all, Galhotra has so far been with the company for 29 years.
“Kumar is an incredibly talented executive with a special feel for product and brand. He is also a seasoned leader who knows how to drive a business transformation,” said Jim Farley, Ford’s president of global markets, in a statement. “Kumar is the right person to lead our North American business to new levels of operational fitness, product and brand excellence, and profitability.”
Ford also took advantage of the day to appoint a number of other executives to different positions. Joy Falotico becomes the vice president and chief marketing officer at Lincoln; David McClelland was named vp of Ford and CEO of Ford Motor Credit Company; Stuart Rowley was named VP and chief operating officer for Ford North America; John Lawler named VP of strategy at Ford Motor Company; and Cathy O’Callaghan was named cp and corporate controller, as well as CFO of Global Markets.
