This Ford Escort RS Cosworth Rally Car might have been late to the party, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing.
The Escort RS Cosworth raced in Group A rallying from 1993 to 1998. The big-wing, big-turbo Escort was a big hit, even if it didn’t bring home a World Rally Championship title.
The road version was sold in very limited numbers, with a big portion of those ending up stolen, in a hedge, or both.
But here’s a rally version you can own. It’s late to the party because this car wasn’t built until 2003. But it still used a seam-welded shell from Ford Motorsports. Under the bonnet is a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder that makes more than enough power to throw dust into the next county. The fully rally-prepared car was broken in, with about 50 miles of track use, but the seller says it has never been used in competition.
While you might have trouble road registering it, this Escort is left-hand drive, and it’s for sale in Texas. And it’s up for sale right now at Bring a Trailer, so if you want your own rally hero, act fast.
