Ford may have decided against the name, but it’s forging ahead with its Mustang-but-worse concept. Now, we have the first sketch of what it’s going to look like.
Posted to Twitter by Automotive News’s Michael Martinez, the picture shows a set of Mustang taillights nested in a Mustang-like, dished tail section.
FIRST LOOK: Here’s a rear sketch of @Ford‘s Mustang-inspired EV crossover due in 2020.
Above the lights, the rear glass seems to slope like the Mustang’s, implying that the not-a-Mach 1 will be a coupe crossover, which was perhaps to be expected.
The Not-a-Mach 1 will apparently be an all electric crossover set to debut in 2020. Based on the same platform as the new Focus, it’s expected to be sold around the world.
So far, it bears a vague resemblance to the current generation Mustang in much the same way that the Mustang II bore a resemblance to its predecessors. Come to think of it, if Ford wants to mess with the Mustang’s proportions until it becomes a weird economy car, that would be a great name for it: The Mustang II.
