Ford has trademarked the Adrenaline name with the Canadian Intellectual Property Office, potentially signaling the arrival of a crossover with the sporty-sounding name.
The American automaker hopes to use the Adrenaline name on “motor vehicles, namely, passenger automobiles, trucks, sport utility vehicles, off-road vehicles, and structural parts, fittings, and badges therefor.” We know it’s for a road vehicle of some type, then, but it’s not clear what it could be.
A crossover or SUV is a safe guess. After all, crossovers and SUVs Ford are all will be making going forward, in addition to the Mustang, F-150 and Ranger. Adrenaline could be the name of the so-called ‘Baby Bronco’ that Ford teased earlier this year, but it might also be suited to the Mustang-inspired electric crossover the automaker has in the pipeline.
Another possibility is that Adrenaline is a trim and not a model name. Adrenaline sort of reminds us of other sporty, intense-sounding Ford truck trims such as the F-150 Tremor and F-150 Lightning. Ford used the ‘Adrenalin’ name on a sporty version of the Explorer Sport Trac as well, but interestingly, it was spelled without an ‘E’ in that instance.
If you think you have any ideas of what Ford might use the Adrenaline name on, let us know in the comments.
