Every five years, Saleen celebrates its own birthday with a limited edition car. This is its 35th anniversary and that car is the 2019 Black Label SA35 Mustang.
Making 780 hp and 630 lb-ft of torque, the Mustang is painted in a fetching black, white, and yellow paint scheme. Only ten are being produced and they come as standard with air conditioning, a six-speed manual transmission, and a bunch of 35th anniversary badges scattered about the car.
You’ll also be able to make use of Saleen’s R Code suspension, a set of forged wheels, General G-Max tires, and a special Saleen exhaust system.
Saleen started business in 1983 with a run of three cars (one in white, one in copper, one in black, hence the color scheme), before adding the first centrifugal supercharger on a late model Mustang, in 1985. That small first led to Saleen entering a Mustang into the Sport car Club of America Race Series, which would be the beginning of a love affair between Saleen and Mustangs.
In 1990, Steve Saleen started Saleen Performance Parts which serve the aftermarket with legendary products such as the S351 (a rebuilt 351 ci engine). In the early 2000s, Saleen developed the mid-engine S7 supercar, which competed at Le Mans continues to evolve today as a road car.
