Ford is showing off another teaser of its latest entry into the Australian Supercars series.
The Ford Mustang will be turned into a Supercar for the first time starting next season. The effort to adapt the coupe to a series that’s known for wheel to wheel sedan racing will be lead by DJR Team Penske. Ford Performance in the US and in Australia will both be involved as well.
It’s not expected to hit the track until December, but here’s a bit of a sneak peek.
Though purists of the series will likely still not appreciate the loss of the Falcon, this Mustang looks pretty snazzy too. The image today from Ford of Australia is a rendering that shows the hood and front grille.
To help built interest in the Mustang Supercar, Ford is also bringing the Le Mans-winning Ford GT and a GT4-spec racing mustang to Australia for the first time. They’ll do demonstration laps against an FG-X Falcon Supercar during the Bathurst 1000 event this week.
