What might be the ultimate restomod Fox-body Mustang is up for sale. Yes, this is Matt Farah’s IRS SSP 5.0 Mustang. And half the proceeds are going to charity.
If you’re a fan of The Smoking Tire, you’ve probably heard all about this Mustang’s build. It started as a Special Service Package coupe – that’s a CHP interceptor. So it’s lighter and stiffer. Farrah added an IRS and Cobra brakes, Delrin bushings, Bilstein shocks, a 302 Ford Racing V8, and a Tremec five-speed.
It also has custom HRE wheels, custom Recaro seats, a roll bar, fresh paint, and a full catalogue of other aftermarket parts. There isn’t much left of this car as it rolled out of the factory in 1988. This Mustang has been featured in video shoots, internet features, in magazines, with the entire build chronicled on The Smoking Tire podcast.
Now it’s up for sale, on Bring a Trailer. It’s already brought a $65,000 bid, and half of the proceeds are going to a charity of the buyer’s choice.
So if you want a serious bad-ass Mustang, this is one of the best. Just don’t ask Matt about the fender flares.
