Following up on the enormous success of its noise-canceling dog house, Ford Europe has its next car-inspired invention for the home—or, rather, the supermarket.

The ‘self-braking’ trolley solves the problem of errant shopping carts running into your ankles or, worse still, your car.

Although it looks a little like a Star Destroyer with a hat, the cart uses technology inspired by Ford’s self-braking technology to stop itself before it runs into, well, anything.

Although it’s a pretty good idea—who among us wouldn’t love a cart that stops itself before running into our car?—the expense of such a shopping cart might keep it out of your local Wal-Mart’s cart corral for now.
