Noted builder of absurdly high-powered cars Hennessey Performance has already announced three packages for the 2020 Shelby Mustang GT500. You know, the one you can’t even buy yet. Want up to 1,200 hp? No problem. Want a bit less, they can do that too.
The GT500 packages start with the Venom 850. That gets you, yup, 850 hp at 7,000 rpm and 725 lb-ft of torque. Up from the piddling 750 hp of the stock car. It’s thanks to long-tube headers, high-flow cats, a CNC-ported supercharger, and a pulley and belt upgrade. Plus you’ll get a 3/36 warranty. More importantly, a serial numbered dash plaque signed by John Hennessey and embroidered headrests.
Next up is an even 1,000 hp. With a 3.0L supercharger upgrade, upgraded intercooler, and the headers and high-flow cats. Plus there’s a fuel system upgrade to flow enough dino juice. The car gets 850 lb-ft of torque, and the same Hennessey goodies as the 850. Though this time the warranty is just 1 year, 12k miles.
But the big dog is the Venom 1200. 1,200 hp and 1,000 lb-ft of torque. Say goodbye to your supercharger in favour of twin-turbos for the 5.2L V8. Along with beefier pistons and connecting rods, a new intercooler system, and even upgrades to the dual-clutch gearbox to help it handle that shove. To get all those ponies, though, you’ll need to run E85 or 109-octane race gas.
Most impressively, Hennessey still offers the Venom 1200 with a 1 year, 12,000-mile warranty. So about 10 sets of rear tires?
