Quite possibly the most visually arresting Mustang on display at SEMA this year. 

The Roush 729 is a one-of-one weapon designed to pay respects to one of the most feared bruisers of the muscle car era, Ford’s 1970 Boss 429 Mustang.

At the heart of the matter is a 5.0-liter Coyote V8 that’s been crowned with a Roush R2650 supercharger in order to bump output to a stout 700 horsepower, there’s also a Roush cold air intake, and a house-made hood scoop appropriately named the “Air Gobbler.”

The exterior is bathed in the Boss’ iconic Grabber Gren paint replicated by Sherwin-Williams, the 729 wears a custom wide-body kit designed by Roush and 3D-printed by Stratasys, while the carbon fiber bits, including the front splitter and rear spoiler, were provided by Anderson Composites.

To get the wheel fitment just right, Roush teamed up with Vossen to develop the RVS Concept wheels which were designed and built to custom fit the 729’s widebody kit built. The forged wheels are finished in gold and wear Continental Extreme-Contact Sport tires, which hide a custom-painted set of Brembo GT Series brakes. Suspending the entire operation is a Roush three-way adjustable coilover suspension system capable of pulling 1.07 g laterally.

Inside, the cabin is fitted with a set of Recaro Racing buckets complete wrapped in custom leather provided by Katzkin. Naturally, there’s also four-point racing harnesses and a Watson roll cage for when the inevitable happens.

The 729 won’t be offered as a standalone kit, but if you’re interested in a similar look for your Mustang, Roush says you can order most of the same visual and mechanical components from its catalog.
