The reviews of Ford’s most powerful Mustang ever are finally coming out and that means we’re finally getting some instrumented test results. Namely 0-60 times and quarter-mile times.
On the sticky prepared surface of a drag strip, the GT500 hits 60 mph in just 3.3 seconds and will run the quarter-mile in 10.7 seconds. Car and Driver estimates that those times would drop to 3.5 seconds and 11.0 seconds, respectively.
Those times put the GT500 up with the best America has to offer. The 2019 Corvette ZR1 hits 60 in three seconds flat, but takes 10.8 seconds to make it to the end of the drag strip. The Challenger Hellcat Redeye, meanwhile, hits 60 in 3.7 seconds and runs the quarter mile in 11.8 seconds.
Drag times weren’t the only times set when the GT500s were in Las Vegas with journalists, though. The drivers had the chance to take the GT500 through some corners and despite making 760 hp, it was manageable.
From Bob Sorokanich’s Road & Track review:
The GT500 is too quick for me to grasp its full potential in the short amount of track time Ford offered us on this one-day media drive. It would take me a week, a month, to tiptoe my way up to this car’s stratospheric limits on any track. But it never felt overwhelming.
So, good news! The GT500 is good!
