Ford Motor Company is still taking deposits for its most divisive Mustang model line: the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E. But if you were hoping to be one of a select few early adopters to get into Ford’s special First Edition model, you’re out of luck; that limited-run variant is all sold out.

The $61,000 Ford Mustang Mach-E is distinguished by its red-painted brake calipers, vegan leather upholstery with contrast stitching, alloy pedal covers, and special First Edition badging and kick plates. It’s based on the AWD Mach-E with the available extended-range battery pack, lending it a projected driving range of 270 miles on a full charge.

But within days of the Mach-E’s LA Auto Show reveal, Roadshow reports, the entire U.S. First Edition allotment was spoken for, prompting Ford to quietly remove the model from its online configurator in the market. It’s uncertain how many examples of the Mustang Mach-E Ford is planning on building, as the automaker hasn’t made a figure public, but we do know that Ford plans to turn out some 50,000 examples of the Mach-E in total during 2021 – the electric ‘Stang’s first full year of production.

The 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E will go on sale late in 2020 with an estimated $44,995 starting price, including a $1,100 destination fee. Of the models still available for pre-order, the closest thing to the sold-out First Edition is the Premium AWD with the extended-range battery – available at an estimated $59,400 including destination. That’s a full $1,600 less than the First Edition, but of course, it will ship without all those unique First Edition touches, and it won’t have the same build priority as the special-edition model.

Some unknown number of examples of the Ford Mustang Mach-E First Edition are still available for pre-order in global markets.
