It’s a sad day for Ford Royalty. The Mississippi Highway Patrol has just bid farewell to the force’s last Crown Victoria police intercepter.

The Crown Vic has been a part of Mississippi law enforcement for more than 30 years, going back through multiple generations of the venerable big sedan. It’s an impressive feat for them to still be using one in regular patrol, since the last of the Vics rolled off the assembly line way back in 2011. Since then, forces have moved toward the Taurus-based Police Interceptor Sedan or, more commonly, the Explorer-based Interceptor Utility.

The last Mississippi Crown Vic wore the state’s typical and subtle dark grey paint with a simple red and blue stripe combo. No word on how many Crown Victorias are still in forces across the country, though the figure must be dwindling by the day.

“The “Crown Vic” has honorably served the Mississippi Highway Patrol for over 30 years and we hate to see her go,” said the Highway Patrol Twitter account, calling the car “the workhorse of the law man.”
