Are you a start-crossed racer who needs to win no matter what your RT is? Ford’s got you covered with its “Werewolf” block.

The block is designed for racers who want to put massive amounts of boost through their engine. As a result, they took the Coyote V8 and made it out of cast iron to be stronger than the standard aluminum block.

Just any old iron wouldn’t do, though. Ford used ultra strong Class-50 iron, meaning that this isn’t the type of stuff you’d find in a frying pan nor in most other cast iron engine blocks, for that matter.

Other changes to the design include 12 mm head bolt holes, main caps made of billet steel, drilled oil passages, and a raised crankcase ceiling to create more clearance for the rods.

And because you don’t just want more boost, the cylinders can also be bored to 95 mm and stroked to 99 mm. Altogether that tallies up to a displacement of 5.6-liters.

Ford Performance engineer Ron Ewert told Dragzine: “The drag racers running shootout-level classes are going through several OEM blocks per year, this should get them through a season without any issues.”

As a result you should be able to get ludicrous horse power figures and ETs reliably. For as Paris said: “These times of woe afford no time to woo.” And I think we can all agree that Shakespeare imagined him as a defeated racer talking about the Werewolf.

The block is expected to go on sale in early 2020 and prices will be somewhere between $5,000 and $6,000.
