Late last year, Ford auctioned off the very first new GT500 for charity. With the sale went a choice of colors and the owner chose a good’un.

Inspired by the first GT500 prototype, nicknamed the Green Hornet, the one-of-a-kind green was created by BASF and Penske, who added a Candy Apple Green overcoat to a Lime Green base.

The paint wasn’t just picked as a nostalgic nod, though. It was picked so that owner could have a matching set since he also owns the Green Hornet. The collection, though, is hardly surprising, since the owner is Craig Jackson—whose name inspired the Jackson in Barrett-Jackson.

Jackson paid $1.1 million for the GT500 and all proceeds from the sale went to benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Both the Green Hornet and the Green Hornet 2.0 will be displayed at an upcoming  auction. They will share the stage with two more Mustangs from Jackson’s collection, a restored ’67 Shelby GT500 (“Little Red”) and a 2020 GT500 painted to match.
