Watch: A Modified 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500 Runs 9s
10 January 2020, 08:00

Stock, Ford’s 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500 will run the 1/4 mile in the 10-second range. But we all know that stock is never fast enough. So now here’s a tuned one that has broken the 10-second barrier.

Evolution Performance has modified the supercharged 5.2L V8 to make 945 hp to the rear wheels, which is definitely a healthy increase over stock. The changes include a ported factory blower, a Lethal Performance pulley, larger fuel injectors, and long-tube headers. There are suspension and bushing changes too, to help keep everything working.

Watch as the Evolution Performance team starts tweaking and tuning the car to maximise launch and performance. Running ever closer to the 10.0 time until finally the car breaks through. The final time was a 9.93 @140 mph, which the video calls a world record. For now, at least, because if there’s one thing we know about Mustangs it’s that tuners never stop pushing the envelope.
