Some more info and specs of the 2021 Ford Bronco Sport have leaked out, thanks to some eagle-eyed posters at our friends at Fullsizebronco.com. They give us a look at some of the engine options, the wheelbase, and some other option packages that are available. It even gives us a hint about max towing.
We’ll start with the engines and that wheelbase. The info, reportedly from the Ford dealer order system, shows a 105.1-inch wheelbase. That’s 1.6 inches shorter than the Escape, meaning that this will likely be much shorter overall, in order to preserve approach and departure angles. Two engines are in the selection list, 1.5L EcoBoost and 2.0L, both with start-stop. While that could be the old 1.5L four, it’s most likely the same 1.5L triple as found in the Escape. That one makes 180 hp and 177 lb-ft of torque. Expect the 2.0 to be the one from the new Escape as well, making around 250 hp and 275 lb-ft, both with an eight-speed automatic.
Two tire options are shown, both in 17-inch diameters. 225/65 and 235/65 both should offer plenty of sidewall for off-roading, and they are described as A/T rubber. There’s a Class II towing option on offer, which means some towing capability. Class II is generally limited to 3,500 lbs max.
A Badlands package is mentioned, offering body colour door handles, possibly two-tone paint, and three seating options are shown: Active Orange cloth, Area 51 cloth, and Ebony leather.
That’s still all we know for now, but expect more information to trickle out, whether Ford wants it or not.
