Bronco Sport VIN Information Reveals Trims and Engine Options
02 April 2020, 08:00

The Ford Bronco Sport will make use of two engines and five trim levels, VIN information registered with NHTSA reveals.

The five trims will be: Base, Big Bend, Outer Banks, Badlands, and First Edition, as we predicted following trademark applications filed in July.

The NHTSA documents also reveal that a 2.0-liter GTDI gas engine will be joined by a 1.5-liter inline 3.

The 1.5L dragon engine is also available in the Escape, the Focus, and the Fiesta ST. It makes anywhere from 150 hp to 197 hp depending on the application and can produce up to 214 lb-ft of torque.

The 2.0-liter, meanwhile, has a wider application and can be found in two states tune, powering everything from the Ford Edge to the Lincoln Corsair. It can make 245-250 hp and 275-280 lb-ft of torque, depending on the application.

The document finally reveals that the Bronco Sport will be a 2021 model and will be built in Hermosillo, in Mexico.
