This is not Matt Farah’s million mile Lexus. This is Matt Farah’s track-ready Fox Body Mustang. And this is him taking it to visit the gang at Hoonigan’s Donut Garage for an episode of Daily Transmission.
You may recognize Matt from his Smoking Tire one-takes on youtube, or from Drive on NBC sports. Or you might know his voice from The Smoking Tire podcast. Well, this is the 1988 notchback Mustang he built to complete a high school dream.
The former CHP car has a 350 hp Ford Racing 302R crate motor. It has an independent rear suspension from a 2004 Cobra, and most of the Maximum Motorsports suspension catalog. Underneath those 3-inch flares are 295/30-R18 Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. After three years of building and tinkering, it’s ready for canyon carving.
After showing off the car, it’s time for a burnout. With a little help from some water. After all, those are some massively sticky tires…
