It was never supposed to be sold in the US, but now the Focus RS won’t be sold anywhere. Ford has confirmed that it has canceled the hot hatch.
Ford cites emissions standards as the cause of the cancellation and the high price of developing electrified drivetrains.
That would seem to confirm that Ford had planned a hybrid drivetrain for the RS, which was rumoured to push the power up to 400 hp, over the 350 hp of the previous generation.
“We remain committed to Ford Performance vehicles in Europe as part of our DNA with cars like the multi-award-winning Focus and Fiesta ST as well as our Mustang and Ranger Raptor models,” said Ford, in a statement.
