The arrival of spring and putting the Mustang back on the road never gets old. (this'll be the 11th year)

As part of that excitement, was thinking about a potential drive idea down to Cherohala Skyway and Tail of the Dragon. Timing very likely the latter part of May, from the Toronto, Canada area.

Looking for insights please from those who have done both (or similar), is May a good time for this?
And, if you're from southern Ontario or western New York, is there a preferred route there...
