Spy photos showing the interior of the upcoming Bronco appear to show the gearstick for a manual transmission with six gears, reverse, and a crawler gear.
The photos, shared by The Fastlane Car, show a gearstick whose six gears appear on the right side of the stick and whose reverse and “C” gear on the left side.
Although it has not been officially confirmed yet, there is wide speculation that the C stands for “crawl.” The low range gear would be useful for off-roading, something Ford COO Jim Farley has already started bragging about.
The executive was quoted saying the Bronco would be “a much superior product” to the Jeep Wrangler. That’s something it will have to prove on and off-road.
Further pictures shared by TFL, appear to show a turbocharged four-cylinder engine in the Bronco’s engine bay. Although official confirmation is, again, not yet here, speculation again abounds that it will be a version of the 2.3-liter Ecoboost engine found in the Ranger.
