Ford Performance is a very well run operation and yesterday they shared some very good pictures. Thought to be among the earliest design sketches in existence, they were apparently drawn 57 years and one day ago.
That’s what Ford Performance’s twitter account suggests, at any rate, and they’re quoting no greater an authority than the Ford archivists who stumbled across the sketches.
While we’re excited to see the sketches, we have to confess that we’re glad they led to what would become the GT40 since, to our eye, this is one of those rare cases where the real car looks better than the sketches.
Still, like pictures of your parents when they were kids, it’s fun and thrilling to see how such a legend came to be.
