So I noticed a lot of people have complained after 60k miles or so that the oil life monitor stopped working... mine included.

Then I ran across this in the owner's manual:

"If your message center is prematurely reset or becomes inoperative, you should perform the oil change interval at six months or 5,000 miles (8,000 km) from your last oil change."

I think what Ford is saying indirectly is that after 60k miles, the motor is no longer suitable for the 10k mile oil changes and now...
