I have a '97 Mustang gt with 17x8 rims. I just bought a set of American Racing VN501 500 Mono Cast Machined Black Custom Wheels (VN501 / 500 Mono Cast 17x8 :: 5x114.3 :: 0. I always loved the 500 look.
I have not put them on yet, but I just realized that they are 0 offset and stock offset is between 28 and 32mm.
No, I didn't look up the offset before I ordered them. It was on a whim......
So, they will stick out about an "1 or so. The back should be fine as the rear wheels...
