So I purchased an android touch screen head unit to replace the shaker 500 (front buttons are peeling and also wanted built in Bluetooth and gps) The radio itself wasn't too difficult to install, wiring was easy to follow, only thing is I had to get an antenna cable extension due to the one in the car being too short. Or possibly the aftermarket radio was not well thought up. Either way it installed and everything was working properly. Took me a few hours more than I'd like to admit anyways...
