Any insight much appreciated!

I bought a set of bushings for a C4 tranny. I expected they would be a snug/running fit on both shafts. To me they're a loose fit... as I can wriggle them slightly from side to side on the shafts. I can get a 3 thou. [0.003"] feeler gauge between the shaft and inner bushings.

Am I missing something here... or is this normal enough... some freeplay maybe for oil heat expansion etc or whatever.
