What are your thoughts on this topic;
Does driving a car without warming up the engine cause damage?

I have had my 87 Manual for 23 years, and I have always let the temp get to about 160 and the rpms below 1000 before driving. There seems to be a consensus that on newer cars, warming up is not necessary. But what is considered newer?

In addition I have an 93 Fox Automatic, so I wonder if the logic is the same either way, to warm or not to warm...
