Tired of all of the knockoffs of the Eleanor Mustang from Gone in 60 Seconds?
Then Fusion Motor Company has good news, officially licensed versions of one of the most famous movie cars of all time!
To be clear, we’re talking about the Nic Cage version, not the Toby Halicki one–you know, the 1967 fastback-turned Shelby GT500 clone, not the yellow 1971 turned into a ’73.
Fusion got the exclusive license to make the movie-inspired cars from Denise Halicki, wife of the director of the original film.
Fusion starts with a 1967 or 1968 Mustang Fastback and immediately strips it down. The cars are squared and stiffened, two things they were definitely not when new.
The aero aids and extra trim to make the fastback look like Eleanor are made from carbon-fiber. That makes them light, but also strong enough to help avoid cracking from body flex. If you want a carbon hood, Fusion can do that too.
Chassis upgrades start with a Detroit Speed independent front suspension kit. Adjustable coilover shocks are added up front along with Wilwood brakes. At the back is a Currie Ford 9-inch limited slip differential with a choice of gear ratios. Rear tires up to 315 wide are available.
There are five Roush-supplied engines offered. The base is a 430 hp 5.0L Coyote V8, but a supercharger will bump that to 600 hp. If you want old tech, a 427 cube V8 is available starting at 480 hp, with 560 and a supercharged 750 hp available.
And since this is an Eleanor, you better believe it has a “Go Baby Go” button on the shifter to add extra power from nitrous oxide injection.
The most popular paint choice will be the Pepper Grey with black stripes from the movie, but other combinations are available.
The cars will come with a build book and certificate of authenticity. If you want one, the wait time is about six months and the price starts at $189,000.
