One of Shelby’s own Shelbys is going up for auction later this month.

It’s a 1966 GT350H Hertz Rent-A-Racer that was part of Carroll Shelby’s own collection.

It didn’t start out as part of the collection, though. This Wimbledon White with blue stripe car really was a Hertz rental from new. The car spent its first year in San Diego, California. Owner number two moved it to Washington state and added gauges, a different apron, R-model wheels, and some other changes.

Then Carroll Shelby bought it and slowly restored the car back to stock.

It’s on sale at Bonhams Scottsdale Auction on the 18th, and it’s probably going to fetch a few more dollars than the $3,865 is sold for originally…
